Fitbit app icon shows a red bubble with 74

On my mobile device, the Fitbit icon has a red bubble with 74 in it. This typically mean on email for example I have 74 emails. I can not figure out what it is denoting in the Fitbit world. I have no friend request, no notifications or anything else that I can see would cause this. I've even deleted the app and reloaded it. Still there. Any suggestions  would be appreciated.

Thanks for the details shared in your post and for already trying to resolve the issue. I recommend trying the following:

1. Log out of the app: tap your profile's picture, swipe up and log out. 
2. Force quit the app.
3. Restart your phone. 
4. Log into the Fitbit app and check if the issue persists.
