Fitbit app keeps asking about location access

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I really need a "don't ask me this again" function for the "Location Access & Bluetooth Sharing" prompt. It asks me this dozens of times a day. NO I do not want it. I got the message the first 500 times it asked me. If I wanted to turn that stuff on I would have. Stop asking me.

It shouldn't be too hard to add a "Don't ask me again" function to the prompt. Please make it stop.

Also, is it possible to turn off the other helpful little tips that periodically pop up at the top of my screen? They seem designed for newbies, and I am not really interested in them.

Hi @Litzz. A warm welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for letting me know about the Fitbit app and for the screenshot provided. I understand your point of view about being constantly prompted to access your location settings and let me give you a hand with this situation. Before anything else, please go to your phone's settings and turn off the Background App Refresh setting for the Fitbit app. Then give a try to the following steps:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Check if the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  4. Reboot your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.

About your second question, currently there isn't an option to turn off the insights that are prompted at the top of the Fitbit app. However, I'd recommend to tap on the "X" so the insight doesn't show up in the home screen. I appreciate your feedback and it'll be passed along so our team can work on our services and enhance your Fitbit experience.

Keep me posted.

OK thanks, I followed those steps, and hopefully it will work.

I do tap the "X" to remove the Insights but it would be nice to have an option to opt-out of them completely.

Hi @Litzz. I hope you're doing well.

You're welcome. Thanks to you for trying the steps suggested in my post and for your thorough feedback about the Fitbit app. If there's anything else I can do for you, please keep me posted.

In regards to the insights displayed at the top of your dashboard, it seems someone has already posted the idea in the Feature Suggestion board. Please check this request, vote for it and leave your comments. The more votes an idea receives, the better chance it has of getting the attention of the developers.

See you around!

The background refresh fix stopped some of the GPS prompts but not all of them. There really needs to be a "Don't Ask Me Again" option. Other apps offer that all the time.

Hi @Litzz. It's great to see you here again.

Thanks for keeping me posted. While I'm glad that tips from my post worked on some of the location access prompts, may I know what prompts are still displayed? If possible, please take a screenshot of those prompts and attach them to your reply as described here.

Additionally, let me know your phone's model and iOS/software version so I can further investigate.

I'll look forward to your response.
