Fitbit app says email is taken when login

I just got a new versa 2 and tried connecting it to my iPhone 8 but then accidentally got out of the app with the watch and phone not connected. Now every time o try restarting my account, it says my email has already been used. 
Please help getting frustrated

I'm glad you got a new Versa 2 and thanks for the details provided. I understand how you're feeling and just to confirm, did you select the Log In option? I'm asking this as when selecting Join you'll be prompted to created a new account and this will explain why you're being told your email is in use.

Please make sure to select Log In on the Fitbit app, enter your credentials and once you're in, follow the steps from this help article to set up your watch.
