I just got off a chat session with someone from fitbit's support. My Ionic has been losing time and having sync issues for the last 2 months (I've had it since 10/17). The person helping me informed me that the iphone X max is not a compatible with my phone. (I've had the phone since December and the issues only started in May). So of course my fitbit is out of warranty but I was offered a discount on a new device. But why would I want to get another fitbit if it's not going to work with my phone? The chat support person told me to come to the page to ask that question and maybe fitbit engineers can confirm that some device of theirs would work.

@T8ummom and a warm welcome. You put in your title that you are asking about an iPhone X max, yet your link says XS max. From all of my looking, there is an iPhone XS max, but no such thing as an X max. But I could be wrong -- my 6s works great, so I have not been keeping up. If you have an iPhone XS max, then it is a fully compatible phone.
I just wonder if there was a misunderstanding between you and the Support tech.
