Fitbit pay

I'm struggling to add my first card to the fitbit pay wallet.  I'm on the apple app on an iPhone 6.  I keep getting the message asking for an ID thumbprint or passcode for the fitbit wallet.  As per responses to previous posts I put my thumb on the fingerprint bit and the app just closes.  I go back in and the same thing happens.

I've reset everything but nothing has worked so far.  I can't get past the same ID security message and I'm starting to go a bit mad - any help greatly appreciated!!

I think it is wanting the phone unlock.  Do you have thumbprint set up to unlock your phone? If not, at least on my Android, it's the sequence of taps to unlock phone.

I’ve got thumbprint ID set up on the phone but whenever it tries to get the
thumbprint the app just closes - there’s no option to put in my passcode/pin
