My Fitbit keeps thinking I am exercising and starts to run or stair climb by me just walking around my house. It’s getting worse and I can’t get it to stop I have to place on the charger and it stops. I think it’s defective

Hello @lmolson and welcome to the Help forum. I apologize if I misunderstand what you wrote. It sounds like your Exercise app is "starting" by itself. Do you use a Versa 3 or a Sense? The Versa 3/Sense touch screen seems to be very sensitive and long sleeves and gloves can be enough to activate it. If this sounds like you, try moving your Exercise app to a different place on your screen, possibly to a different page.

I wonder if lmolson's device is auto-recogizing elliptical or possibly stair-climber. Are you transversing stairs when walking around your house and do your "travels" last longer than ten minutes when a walk is booked? Or is it just "Runs" that get booked.
I do know that when I had my Versa 2, it would auto-recognize rigorous gardening, especially when trimming my seven pigmy palms was included, as "Sport".
If I remember correctly, you can turn off "auto-recognize" for individual exercise types within the app after tapping the gear icon on the exercise page as well as on the web dashboard by tapping on the gear icon at the top right and tapping your device name. Then go to "Auto-Exercise Recognition". I think I got that right.
Good luck and welcome to the boards.
