Now and again I rush off to work without my Fitbit. How can I add steps tracked by other devices into the app, so that I have a better idea of calories I can consume?

Hi. Recently tried to add steps manually online on my Flex2 but there is no longer the option to add missing steps.  The "distance/Steps " drop down has gone and when you enter a walk the log list says N/A under "steps" Disappointing.

Can you give me some details? I did go in and add an activity, including distance but the number of steps doesn't match the time and distance of my run. I think for a 40 minute run, it added 121 steps?

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I understand some of you are having trouble adding steps to your daily activity when you're not using your Fitbit tracker. Please note that when you manually add an activity it's not possible to log a specific amount of steps, however some steps will be calculated depending on the duration of the exercise and the distance of it (both can be modified). So in this case, if you'd like to add steps to your daily activity, my suggestion would be adding a Walk activity and modify the duration and distance before logging the activity.

Now, once you save the activity, you can tap on the Exercise tile, then on the activity you just logged in and you will be able to see the amount of steps added by scrolling down on the activity.

Additionally, I would like to suggest to enable MobileTrack for those times when you're unable to use your tracker. MobileTrack will use the sensors on your iPhone and to calculate steps, as long as you have it in your pocket. Then you can sync MobileTrack and those steps calculated by the phone will be added to your daily total.

To set up MobileTrack on your phone:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on Account
  2. Tap on "Add a New Device"
  3. Select MobileTrack and follow the onscreen instructions

Please refer to our list of compatible devices to check if your iPhone is compatible with this feature.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I appreciate your participation in the forums. Indeed, you can add a manual activity either from the app or from your computer. Unfortunately, MobileTrack is a feature only available in the iPhone.

I hope this resolved your inquiry, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I finally managed to do this.  I had left the fitbit on the charger when I took the dog for a walk.

--Went to dashboard (on computer account).

--Clicked on Log.

--Clicked on Activities.

--Scrolled down the page to the box labeled Activities.  Mine doesn't have Walk under Favorites, but it does have Walk under Most Logged.  I assume if you were a runner, you'd have Run under one of those two Headings.  I clicked on Most Logged, then clicked on Walk.

--It has date, time started, duration, etc.  Under Distance, click on Miles.  The drop down menu has Steps.  You can input the number of steps.

--Click on the Log button.

I went to activities, clicked on clock at top right hand side, then drop down menu for activity type and chose Walk then mileage. In my case I entered what percentage of miles done on previous logged walks.

Hope this helps.

I agree. My tracker has gone down twice this month. I have had 2 replacements and each time I was unable to sync the data. My steps are my main goal and even though my tracker showed that I had made the goal earlier in the day, I get no credit because the Bluetooth connection in my Charge 2 went out for the first tracker. Then I updated to the “waterproof” Charge 3 and it died yesterday during a swim. I had it for less than a week! Lost all my data for yesterday. It has really hurt my motivation to see the gaps in data.

Please move this solution up to the top of this thread. This is exactly what I was looking for but had to page through questions/solutions dating back to 2016 in order to find it. Thanks, though!

I just added steps to my Charge 2 by following these directions. Since my Samsung S6 acurrately tracks my steps I knew how many to add. My Charge 2 added them and I didn't lose any. Thank you.

I did the same thing and I have an iPhone. I looked on the health app on my phone and I calculated how many steps I took to miles. I logged an exercise of the calculated miles and put the time of when I woke up to when I remembered to put my watch on.

Ok, omg, this hasn’t changed in 4years?! I need this answer and the post that came up are from 2015/16??
Don’t tell me there is no way to manually enter steps you took if you ran out the door and forgot your bit? I was charging mine and walked up and down our office building. I know exactly the number of steps, so I want to enter them on my app. Not available. How can this not be an option? It would only let me enter as an actual “long walk” but it doesn’t “count” towards steps?!! Ugh
