GPS exercise not tracking correct distance.

Since last update gps tecord worse than before. Showed me travelling 14km rather than the actual 10km. Showed me darting all over the place despite basically going in a straight line. First time it has been this bad. Also the thumbnail graphic of the route taken is of a previous ride. I would rather have less updates and instead have updates that go through extensive testing before being released.

Hello @rgilbert24, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention. Tell me, which tracker are you currently using? Are you tracking a GPS exercise through your Fitbit device, connected GPS or are you using MobileRun?

Please note that at least 24 GPS satellites are constantly in orbit around the Earth and broadcasting data. All GPS devices, whether your phone or a Fitbit device, require a direct path to these satellites in order to receive their radio transmissions. If the signal is blocked—either because you're underground, near many tall buildings, or as a result of atmospheric effects—GPS won't work. While GPS gives you a more accurate measure of distance than step counting alone, the actual accuracy depends on both your environment and the weather.

If the GPS signal is lost, your phone or Fitbit device continually searches for a GPS signal as long as an exercise is in progress. If you're tracking a GPS activity directly through your Fitbit device or connected GPS, please check the following article: Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit Device? for troubleshooting guides for each Fitbit device.

Now, if you're using MobileRun, please check the following steps:

  1. First, make sure you can track your run, walk, or hike when you're out of Wi-Fi range:
    1. Open Settings and tap Cellular.
    2. Make sure Cellular Data is turned on.
  2. Next, ensure that your GPS can continue tracking when your phone is locked:
    1. Open Settings and tap General.
    2. Tap Background App Refresh, find the Fitbit app, and make sure it is turned on.
  3. Lastly, make sure your phone can identify your location:
    1. Open Settings and tap Privacy.
    2. Tap Location Services and make sure it’s turned on.
    3. Find Fitbit in the app list and make sure it's set to While Using the App or Always. If you choose the Always setting, MobileRun will automatically restart when unexpectedly interrupted.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.
