GPS tracking run in straight lines

Hi all,

I've noticed that my fitbit app is recording my GPS during runs in straight lines sometimes, it's almost like it periodcially places a gps marker and just joins the dots so mises corners completely.

However some runs it tracks it correctly and you can see small deviations where I take the wide route around a corner or if I'm feeling lazy cut the corner.

The end result is different distances and inaccurate pace data. Whilst my standard route it's not much of an issue as I know the distance and can work out roughly what pace I am doing at various points, it's a pain now I'm trying to mix things up and try different routes to keep things fresh. Any ideas?

I've tried not opening the app until I'm outside on a data connection (instead of whilst being on wifi) but seemingly it's luck of the draw on a given run.

Thanks,

Kyle
