How do I stop Inspire 3 auto detecting walk

I wank to stop my Inspire 3 automatically detecting walking. I’ve turned off the auto detection settings in the app but it still tells me when it thinks I’m walking. I want to monitor my heart rate, but this isn’t visible when walk is on. Others have reported thus so I’m guessing this is not fixable but I live in hope.

@IanS60 , a warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and efforts.

The settings you  turned off, are for the 7 activities that can be auto- recognized (SmartTrack). This feature will run in the background when an activity was recognized.

The settings you are looking for are for Auto start. This was implemented with the new firmware. This feature will open the exercise app as soon as the Inspire 3 recognizes any of the 7 new activities.

Please change these settings on the Inspire 3 itself.

Open the exercise app.
Tap (each one) cycling, elliptical, rowing, running, indoor cycling, or walking.
Swipe up and deactivate Auto-Start.

The next time the device detects this type of training, the training app will not open automatically

Despite following your directions exactly there is clearly a glitch in the update. My inspire 3 continues to automatically detect walking when this has clearly been turn off. Very annoying. I wish I had never updated my Fitbit. Do you intend to send out a fix to this. I can no longer monitor my blood pressure as I exercise which is critical to my health.

@Dorcaf , Nice to see you in the Community! Thank you for your message and efforts.

Just to confirm.
What activity is shown in the app after syncing?
Do you see the exercise app open on the Inspire 3,  when the activity is detected?

On the Inspire 3, when you go to the exercise app, tap on running or walking, do you see that the auto detect option is off? ( This will confirm that the changes were saved on the device.

If you don't see the exercise app open, then you'll need to change the autorecognized activities. This is done over the Fitbit app
Instructions can be found here: Which activities does my Fitbit device track automatically?

Can I change how my activities are tracked?

Hi. I have been busy trying to remedy this problem. I have made the proper
adjustments (as per the online instructions) on the Fitbit App and synced
it. I have tried updating my Fitbit and restarting it. I have tried to
remove Walking from the exercises that are monitored on my Fitbit App and
restarted my Fitbit...but Walking still appears on the device and it's
still automatically monitoring this activity after I've been walking for
about 10 minutes. I'm not sure what to do anymore. Is there something
wrong with my Aspire 3?? Is it a glitch in your update?? The Aspire 3
worked perfectly prior to the update. Would appreciate any help you can
offer. Thanks, Jodi

@Dorcaf , nice to see you around. Thank you for your efforts.

There seems to be a misunderstanding.  The changes you made in the app are for the autorecognized activities.

You'll need to change the auto start settings. These are on the Inspire 3 itself.

Please change these settings on the Inspire 3 itself.

Open the exercise app.
Tap (each one) cycling, elliptical, rowing, running, indoor cycling, or walking.
Swipe up and deactivate Auto-Start. Tap on the setting to change it.

It took me a while to understand the instructions but this is what worked for me.
Swipe left on the watch. Shows “notifications “. Swipe left again. Shows “exercise walk“. This it seems is the “exercise app”. Click on it. Shows “start”. Scroll down a few times to see “auto start”. Turn it off. Done!
Hope that helps.
Ian.

Ty so much! Finally - what a simple fix! I had only seen to do it in the app. didn’t know it was even possible to do it on the watch itself

@JuanFitbit

I followed you directions to turn of auto start walking in the exercise app on the watch.

The exercise app on the watch shows many (dozens) of exercises. This software requires me to do the tap, swipe, swipe, tap to turn off auto start for everyone of these exercises on the watch? Really? It is not possible to turn off auto start globally on the Inspire 3?

Hi everybody ! Thank you for your messages and confirmations.

@chris_in_cal , Thank you for your feedback.

You don't need to change the settings on every and each activity. Only these ones have the autostart option : cycling, elliptical, rowing, running, indoor cycling, and walking.

If you don't want any of those to autostart the activity app, you'll need to turn it off .

The others activities will be reordered, depending on how often and activity is selected and the latest used activity.
