How does the app track my maps if I don't have data?

Just received my Fitbit today and I'm looking forward to learning how to use it better from you great folks here in the community.

Just wondering how the Fitbit App tracks walks or runs. My iPhone 4s only has a prepaid calling card with no data, but when I went out for my walk it tracked my entire route with GPS. Is this eating into my prepaid minutes or is it doing it free using the cellular signal data from my provider. Just concerned because I will turn this feature off if its using all my prepaid card minutes up.

Hello @Zomby_Woof, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention, thanks for your question. Please note that if you have a Surge or an Ionic, the GPS map is tracked by your device and if you use a Charge 2, Versa or Blaze, the device tracks your GPS map through the app using connected GPS. In both cases, data is not used and neither your minutes, so don't worry. You will only need data when syncing the exercise to your account.

i hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Excellent that you can use the Charge 2 to track my route without data, now I'm going to also use this knowledge and use my iPhone 4s as a GPS in the car.
