Are you sure it is the Charge 3 and not the Fit it app?
I don't understand how Bluetooth can be shared, but Bluetooth needs to be enabled since this is the only way to communicate with the tracker.
As for you location, Fitbit does not share this unless you save a map of your event.
Without knnowing the phone type, if it is Android, then the Android operating system requires that location services be enabled. However this is not sharing

Thanks for your input and good questions. Yes, it's connected to my iPhone6, but the alert is from the Fitbit app, not the Charge 3 itself. Bluetooth is on or I wouldn't be able to communicate with the tracker as you point out. The language about sharing bluetooth and enabling location tracking comes from the dialog box that pops up on the Fitbit app; I'm not sure what it means. I haven't save any maps of events as far as I'm aware.
In phone settings of the Fitbit app, Location is set to Never and Bluetooth Sharing (whatever that means) if toggled off. Any thoughts on why I'm periodically asked if I want to enable tracking and bluetooth sharing are welcome.
Thanks,

I'm not sure either, can you post a screen shot?
I'll move the post to the iOS board.

Frequency varies, but this is the message box

It is simply telling you that if you want to track a run/walk/hike/bike with gps you will need to enable access to location.
If your interested in starting gps trackin from your wrist, then Bluetooth sharing needs to be turned on.
It basically saying that if you want to use the function, it needs to be turned on.
Of you do not want to, tap No Thanks.

Thanks, but back to the original question, does anyone know how to stop this notification? I know what is on offer and I don't want it. The app requires a reply so in interferes, much worse than a garbage notification that can be ignored.

Hello @Dshum
Have you tried this:
iOS device setting> Fitbit> Location services> select never
iOS device settings > privacy> location services > Fitbit > select never
Of course if you want to use GPS to map an exercise you have to change the settings back.
😃 Let me know if this helps

Thanks for the suggestion.
I double checked and the location services setting continues to be 'never' with Bluetooth sharing toggled off. The app is somehow set to periodically let know the options change changed. Thanks, but no...

Hello again @Dshum
I’m sorry my suggestion didn’t resolve your issue. Just a guess here but I don’t get these prompts your experiencing but I’m wondering if it’s somehow tied into notifications. I have mine disabled.

I do have notifications activated. I'll try disabling them.
Thanks

Did disabling notifications work for you @Dshum ?

Soon after disabling I received a number of the messages but haven't seen them for a bit. It tends to be intermittent so I'll continue to monitor. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I have this same problem with my Vista 2, it just started, and it is driving me nuts. They need a 3rd option, "Don't Ask Me Again!".
Update. I selected Go To Settings, set location to Never. I then re-booted my iPhone, and the problem seems to have gone away. Don't know if re-booting helped, but sometimes it does.

In spite Location being set to never, Bluetooth Sharing off, Notifications all off and no change in my usage pattern or location, the message is now popping up again. Aargh! I was hopeful as I hadn't seen it for a couple of weeks, but my tentative joy was short-lived. Maybe head office decided it was time for another push to further expand the intake of personal data?
I have no problem with being asked once, but that should be it. At the least there should be a 'don't ask me again' option. Fitbit/Google, are you listening?

Have you set your exercises to not use GPS?
While Fitbit says they do monitor these forums, there is no promise that they see every thread.
As for Google, why would they be listening?

Thanks for your suggestion and insights. GPS is set to off. As this is a community forum there's no expectation that Fitbit responds to everything, but hopefully they are listening to the customer voice.
As for Google, in many ways the world is a better place, or at least is more convenient due to their activities. However, it is a data company that seems willing to pay handsomely for user lists and data streams, all anonymized in a legally acceptable manner, of course. While Google wouldn't respond to individual issues, it is certainly listening wherever it can. Maybe it's influence will trickle down to make a better user experience?

I don't understand why Google would be listening. The do not have any relationship with Fitbit other then have stated that they are willing to purchase the company.

But it asks you EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. you open the screen. Not even every time you open the app. Every time you switch to the Fit it screen after looking at another app. My request is to have it “always” connected. I don’t want that. I only want it “when I use the app”. It’s extremely annoying. And when I DO give in and put it on “always”, my phone starts telling me I have it on and do I want to turn it off. I can’t win.
