How to disable "Location access & Bluetooth sharing" pop up?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I see lots and lots and lots of complaints about this pop up. There seems to be no solution. Please Fitbit fix this!!! The new firmware update I got last week fixed many bugs, but not this extremely annoying popup that I get every time I sync. I have tried every solution that has been posted. Nothing works. I have a Versa 2 and an iPhone.  I have read posts bout this on the iOS page and on this one. No help yet.

Hi there @swampmilkweed! Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue before reaching out. I understand how annoying this can be.

Currently it's required to have the location services set to "Always" on your iOS device whenever you're going to use MobileRun or Connected GPSYou can try doing the following on your phone:

  1. Open Settings > Privacy.
  2. Tap Location Services and make sure it’s turned on.
  3. Find Fitbit in the app list, and make sure that Allow Location Access is set to Always.

If you're not going to use MobileRun or Connected GPS, you can leave the location services off or while using the app as that will not affect the way your Fitbit syncs and communicates with the Fitbit app. To share additional feedback or if you want the features to be improved, feel free to visit our Feature suggestion boardThat way other users can comment and vote on the idea to show their support, and our team can take it into consideration. You can read the FAQ to better understand how that board works and do a search first, in case someone else has already suggested your idea, or something similar.

I've moved your post to iOS App for organization purposes.

Dear MarreFitbit,

Your answer does not help at all. I have a Versa 2 which does not have GPS built in. I do not ever, ever, ever want to use the GPS as I do not carry my phone when I walk. I ought to be able to say NO THANKS to Location Sharing once and be done with that. Instead, Fitbit pops up every single time I sync and asks me to turn on Location Sharing. No,no,no, no!!!!!! I want to DISABLE that feature, but still need Bluetooth to be able to sync. There are several other Fitbit users who have this same exact issue. NONE if the so called answers are any help at all. You said I could just not turn on sharing. You did NOT tell me how to force the awful pop up to stop. My Versa 2 works just fine. It syncs just fine. I only want to STOP the HORRIBLE popup that appears every time I sync.

It’s gotten worse. The pop up appears every time I open the app. The equivalent of digital bullying and general bad behavior. I will contact the service desk to fix this at once or I will stop using Fitbit.

This is an incorrect reply, and it's unbelievable that fitbit still do not acknowledge this issue. This does not happen when using MobileRun or Connected GPS - when this problem appears, the annoying pop up comes up all the time even if you are not using MobileRun or Connected GPS. It is definitely a bug because it does not happen normally, and it would be in violation of Apple's app guidelines if this behaviour was intentional. Apple's guidelines state that an app may not ask for permission for sharing data that is not necessary (and it is not necessary if you are not using MobileRun). They also state that an app must respect the user's preferences, which means that it may not bring up the same pop up requesting permissions over and over again.

Anyway to answer the original question: yes, this is a problem when something goes corrupt in the app. You can fix it by deleting the app and then installing it again. And hopefully at some point fitbit will finally acknowledge this bug and fix it.

I posted this as a reply to someone else, so in case you didn't see it: You can fix it by deleting the app and then installing it again. And hopefully at some point fitbit will finally acknowledge this bug and fix it.
