Did you mean:

I want to scroll through previous day's data

It used to be that if you scrolled back through the days on the phone app, all data would move together. So today's steps would go to yesterday's, and at the same time, today's calories burned would go to yesterday's, and so on.

After the upgrade that so many people complained about in its beta testing, you can only scroll through one set of data at a time. So you can go to yesterday's steps, and the day before, and the day before--but you're still stuck on today's calories burned.

The point of showing more than one piece of information is because the pieces are interconnected. How many steps you take affects calories burned. Whether you hit 250 steps per hour affects calories burned. And so on.

To no longer be able to see the relationships between pieces of information is enormously frustrating. It's even more frustrating that the app used to have this functionality! So clearly it is technically possible. Why, oh why, would Fitbit remove it? Was there some huge, silent outcry among users of "Please! Don't let us see how habits interact!" It just seems hard to fathom. (For people new to Fitbit who never used the old app, it worked like the desktop dashboard does now--when you went back a day, everything went back.)

And yes, I gave my feedback at the time, and called Fitbit directly, and suggested it as a "new feature," even though it wouldn't be, it would just be restoring the feature they used to have. I never got any response beyond "We realize that change is hard for some people," as if wanting to see how my information is meaningful is some flaw in myself, that I might get over in time.

I don't know what other people did, but I mostly stopped using the Fitbit app. I get the buzz on my arm, I know I've hit my steps, and that's about it. Very occasionally I check the phone and I can see some stats for that day, but as it's not possible to see trends over time any more, I rarely bother. I do check the website from my laptop once a month or so, but it was the phone app that was most useful for me (because I don't tend to walk around with my laptop in my hands), and now isn't.

Anyway, on the off chance that in the last year, staff at Fitbit could have changed, and someone might read this who cares, I'd like to ask one more time ... could we please, please, please have the previous functionality back? Surely the specs or code or whatever you need are archived somewhere? (It would also be lovely to have more stats fit on one screen, like they did before, but I can live with scrolling if the rest of the app would only work again.)

Yep, already did that. And plenty of people voted for it.

Can I ask what the real reason was for eliminating that functionality, when so many people begged to keep it? Was it money? or something else? Is it technically too difficult to maintain, or something? (It worked so well before, though...)

Wow, that's a canned answer if I ever seen one.  I have seen it almost word for word on most of the Moderators replies lately.

I see that the original title of my post has been changed by a moderator. The original title was

Will we ever--ever?--get the good app back?

I think it's important for people to know that we USED TO HAVE a better app. I'm not asking for a "new feature." I'm asking for the feature that we had, that worked well, to be reinstated. I'm also asking why it was removed in the first place.

Can a moderator answer either of those two questions?
