The chances that I need to add my sleep or other things manually are small, and it would be nice to hide these rather big ui elements. I looked around but can't find it. Maybe I am missing it. I feel that these should be able to be hidden if the user wants it. This is exactly what the 3 dot menu is for, let anyone who wants to hide the manual adding of stuff there. Why isn't Google not sticking to their own design language? This is their material design right? I know taste is subjective but having a giant plus sign button on pretty much any page, blocking other elements on the page is not nice. Specially if it's for something you might only rarely use. Please let me know if I'm missing a setting somewhere.

@stu_q No, you aren't missing a setting. We can't remove it and it actually has a name. It is called a floating action button.
Your app use sounds just like my husband's. He never scrolls below his main stats. There are two things you can do to send feedback. Tap on your profile picture, then Send feedback. You can start a request in the Product Feedback forum.
Do you use the display zoom on your phone to make things larger? That definitely makes the floating action button larger. I would find that annoying, too.
