Latest app update is draining the battery on my phone.

Hi, I'm a long term Fitbit user (currently owning a Versa) and never had this problem: The latest Fitbit app release (non-beta) drains the battery of my iPhone XS very fast. At first I didn't notice that it was the Fitbit app. But when I saw that it was active somewhat the whole night (without using my Fitbit Versa) it became clear what the cause was.

Of course I turned off all-day sync, and things like background refresh and location.

Right after deleting the app on my phone, the battery usage went back to normal.

I've seen some complaints about this in late 2018, but recently there seems no discussion about this.

Can anybody tell me what to do now? I own a MacBook Pro, and sync won't work there anymore.

Thanks!

Hello @suijkerwerk I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. At this moment we have not received reports of the latest app update to be causing battery draining on phones or devices. So at this moment, I would like to suggest you to install the app again and when you're not using the app to sync your device, please force-quit it so it doesn't run in the background.

Note that if you're using a Versa / Ionic / Charge 3 / Inspire or Inspire HR you will need a mobile device to sync as they don't sync through Fitbit Connect on a Mac Computer.

In the meantime, I will make sure to forward your report to our team. Once we have more information to share with you about this situation, we'll make sure to post it here in the official Forums. Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi, I'm experiencing this same issue with the app on my iPhone running version 12.4.1.  The app struggles to locate new food in the food logging section and i assumed that this was the problem but i think it is the fitbit app in general. It is draining my battery and this is confirmed in the settings of my phone.  Force closing the app works but as i use the app throughout the day to count my calorie intake i still have to open it and search within it multiple times.  When i first used the app in 2018 this was not a problem but it has been getting progressively worse and worse over the past few months and is now really poor. So much so that i cannot now go a day (7:30am to 8pm) without needing a top up charge.  Can you give me some advice on how to stop this? Thank you.
