Why does location services need to be set to “always”? You don’t need to know where I am all of the time. This is complete BS. The only time GPS is needed is when I am using the app.

The need for location services to be enabled is a requirement that Google introduced with Android 6. Fitbit explains more in this help file:

I have an open query with this same issue and all I get is the runaround,Nobody is able to give me a straight answer as why it needs to be Always and not While using the App.
I agree that this is BS.

hello @agonsalves
I understand you don’t want your location services on your device. I’m assuming since your on the iOS app forum that you have an iOS device. You can certainly turn your location services to “never” if you chose to. I personally have mine set to never and my Fitbit works fine. (I don’t use the GPS map function on my Fitbit so I don’t feel the need to have it on but know I can always change it if I change my mind)
Heres how:
iOS device settings >privacy>location services >Fitbit >select never.
😃 I hope this provides you with an answer.

I’ve got mine set to ‘never’ which is how I want it to be but in the last day or two I’ve had an annoying pop up re ‘Location Access and Bluetooth Sharing’ whenever I open the app.

Hello @JGM2707
Maybe force shutting the app and restarting your device might stop those pop ups. Worth a shot. 😉
here’s how:
Log out of the Fitbit app and force shut the app by swiping up
now turn off your device completely then wait 1-2 mins then restart the device
log back into your Fitbit app as you normally would with email/password
Hopefully that will stop the issue.

Thanks, I’ve tried that but it’s made no difference.
