MobileTrack is out of sync with iPhone data? (No watch involved)

Hi! How can this be?? I’m only using my iPhone and the Fitbit app (so no watch, tracker etc). I thought the app pulled its data etc from gps on phone. So how can they be different? (They had just synced also according to the Fitbit app).

The built in phone app “Health” says that I did 6993 steps / 4.9km

However the Fitbit app says I did 7015 steps! / 5.06 km.

Please help!!, trying to get fit and now don’t Know what to believe?? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Melissa-Missy. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern regarding the accuracy of the MobileTrack compared to the “Health” phone app. Thanks for trying to resolve this, I appreciate the additional details and I am here to help. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. Since the MobileTrack uses your personal information, it could be the reason why you see the difference with another app. You can verify that the personal information you entered when you set up your Fitbit account is correct. For more information, see How do I manage my Fitbit profile?

Your distance is estimated by your stride length. By default, stride length is calculated using your height and sex. If you feel that your distance estimate isn't accurate, you can adjust your stride length by following the instructions in Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

For more information about the MobileTrack, see this help article: How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack?
