Moving account from Fitbit to Google

My wife's Fitbit account has been difficult to move to Google. We created her account easily enough. When we tried to sign in using her Google account, it acted as though she had never had a Fitbit account, and essentially set up a whole new account for her. Her previous data disappeared, her food log vanished, and her scale wouldn't sync anymore. What happened? She's had to enter almost everything again.

It sounds like you created a new account, rather than moving your account to Google.

Is your wife now useing the Log in with Google option

Or logging in with her GMail ID?

She uses her Google log-in. Whenever she tries to log into Fitbit, it tells
her to use Google.

Joe. I still say that your wife may now have 2 accounts.

The old one, with all her data, that you log in through an email address. This could be. It doesn't have to be a gmail address.

To log in through Google, the user need to tap the log on with Google option. We now need to use our Google ID and the Google password.

The key I pickup on is that you say that, the account was created easily enough. However, we do not want to create an account when we move over to a Google login.

I believe you should contact support, let them know what happened.

For now I would log in the old way.

Thanks for your help. How does one move a Fitbit account to a Google
account? I did it on my iPhone but it didn't work with hers. Also, her
scale (Aria II) will not sync now and I can't get it to. Any ideas there?

How did you do it. Did you get the option to move your account? We have been told that at some in the future, we will be given the option to move over to a Google login.

I noticed when I logged in through fitbit.com

  • Tapped log in through google
  • It said I don't have an account. Do you want to create, or move account.

You might have to delete the current account logged in through google

That's the thing. I don't know how I did it. Instead of signing in with
Fitbit, I signed in with my Google account (I already had set that up long
ago) and the Fitbit data was just there. My wife's, however, was a pain.
Nothing went smoothly. Now she can't sign in with Fitbit; she must sign in
to Google. I fear that Google buying Fitbit was a huge error.

Has she tried logging in with her old email and password? I still think she may have created a second fitbit account, instead of moving over to a Google login and think she needs to contact fitbit support. I posted link to support above, or you can find it at the bottom of this page

When you log in through Google, you technically are not logging in with you gmail address.

I finally have been given the option to move my account. Did she use the link in her Fitbit app?
