Hi, @Stevela, that is how the new dashboard is currently designed. You are doing nothing wrong, and there are no steps you can take to change it. For that reason I myself currently use the old version of the dashboard.
As you note, you can get the information you need by clicking on the individual tiles. It does take an extra step, but it is all there.
Welcome to the forums.

It's nice to see you around the Community @Stevela !
The new dashboard design highlights your daily progress in a new daily stats tile. You’ll see your activity stats, such as floors, miles, calories, and active minutes in a new tile. You can tap each stat to see more detail and your history. Additionally, the other tiles have a new look and contain more detailed information if you tap each tile.
You can turn on or off the new dashboard design.
As my friend says @Julia_G, you can continue using the existing dashboard design for the time being. Over the next few months, the old design will no longer be available and the new design will become permanent.

Maria--
Could you or someone else at FitBit comment as to why the old dashboard won't be available in the future? From the number of posts I've seen here, it seems apparant that many users (myself included) prefer the old dashboard.
It's very frustrating to see posts from FitBit employees stating that the old dashboard will be going away with no explanation as to why. If there is a valid reason for removing the option, knowing it would help to alleviate the frustration of users. I might not like the fact that I won't be able to use the old dashboard, but having a valid reason for it's removal would at least help me understand why FitBit seems to be turning a deaf ear to their customers/users.
