No cell service (so no GPS) How will fitbit track?

Hello,

I live in an area with no cell service, therefore no data services (like GPS, maps, etc). I do not have a fitbit device (yet) but am using the fitbit app on IOS Apple iPhone 4S.

If I do not have data, will the app still track my steps?

Would a fitbit device track my steps? How can it do this with no data?

Hello @jcj567, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

If you have a Fitbit tracker, it will still count your steps, calories burned, distance, etc. However, in order to sync the tracker with your account, you will need either a Wi-Fi connection or cellular data. Please note that the Fitbit trackers can also sync using a computer (desktop or laptop) and can store up to 7 days of detailed information in case you're not able to sync your tracker daily.

To sync with a computer you will need a USB dongle, included in most of the trackers (please check the store for details on which ones include it) or a laptop with compatible Bluetooth.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink
