Hi,
A week or so ago I the issue of being unable to send request friend requests started via the app. I’m not trying to add facebook friends nor by their email address. I’m trying to friend request people via the different groups within the app. I go to their profile add them as a friend, the ‘Add friend’ button changes to ‘Friend request sent’ and then it quickly turns back to ‘Add friend’.
I’ve tried:
But nothing seems to work.

Have you tried to add friends from the Fitbit.com Dashboard on the website:
