Once connected to phone the screen won't work on the Fitbit

As I said, once I sync my Fitbit to my iPhone the screen won't work on the Fitbit. To make it work again I have to plug it back into the charge cord which seems to reboot it. What is causing this? It's not like the Fitbit turned off because the green lights are still flashing and if I hold button it vibrates. Very confused.

For clarification, your tracker's screen isn't working unless you plug it into the charging cable? 

 

Plugging your tracker into the charger shouldn't restart the tracker, but I'd definitely recommend restarting your tracker if you haven't already tried. Click here for instructions.

@DerrickSThe screen works as long as I don't open my phone and sync up my fitbit to the app.  Once I sync it up to my phone the screen stops working.  The green lights then start to flash much brighter but nothing appears on the screen.  If I hold the button down for a few seconds I feel it vibrate but nothing appears on the screen.  I just tried to restart it via the instructions you gave me and I never saw the fitbit icon and the version appear on the screen.
