Recurrent calendar reminders throughout the day

I know I am not the only one reporting this issue on this forum but I think it is time that Fitbit reacts. I am a long term user of Fitibit watches. I bought my first Surge in April 2015 and since I bought every new model as it was released. All issued I had so far have been solved quickly and I could never really complain and continued to support the company until today.

There has been a release of iOS on my iPhone that made issues with the Fitbit iOS app. My Apple calendar reminders (and only those of Apple calendar, not those of MS Exchage I also have in my Apple Mail app) pop up multiple times a day on my Ionic Smartwatch. They clearly pop up every time I go out of Bluetooth range between my phone and my watch. Having both of them in the same Wifi Network doesn't help either.

These recurrent reminders are really annoying when they wake me up during the night.I definitively want to use the calendar reminders and, as it is a feature of the Fitbit-App, I don't see why in so many threads here in the forum, the best rated answer is the one that suggests to disable calendar alarms to fix the problem. This is not a fix and even not a work around.

I haven't found a fix so far and this problem lasts several month now. I am getting tired of reading always the same posts here. I urge the Fitbit developpers to correct that issue and I invite other users also affected by that issue to post their experiences in this thread.

If there is no other solution I will most probably look out for another brand of tracker.

Hi @jcberens. Welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for letting me know that you receive recurrent calendar reminders multiple times a day, and for your efforts while working on this. I understand how you're feeling about this situation and let me help you out with this matter. Since you mentioned to use Apple calendar, please check if the reminders were set to alert you multiple times. Also, verify if the Fitbit app and your Fitbit device are updated to the latest version.

Once that is done, please give a try to the following steps:

  1. Go to the Fitbit app and turn off the calendar events.
  2. Remove your Fitbit from the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap on your profile picture > Fitbit icon > Sync Now.
  5. After syncing, set up the notifications and turn on calendar events.

I don't want any of these reminders from my calendar.  How do I shut them off?  I want the time to appear when I turn my wrist and that's all!  I can't read the small screen in any case.  So I want it clutter free.  Better not to have those colors, either.  Just muddies the field.

Please tell me where to go to turn everything but the time off as regards my wrist screen.

Thanks.

Hi there, @Kkkatie.

Thanks for joining this thread and sharing your experience with your Fitbit device. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you and I'd recommend the following steps to turn off the calendar notifications:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device icon > Notifications.
  3. Look for Calendar Events and make sure it's disabled.
  4. If you have other calendar apps on your phone, tap App Notifications and turn them off.
  5. Go back one screen and tap Sync Now to apply the changes.

On the other hand, if by any chance you also want to change the clock face, you can follow the steps described in this help article.

Hi Lizzy,

Calendar Events is not listed.  App Notifications is also not listed.

There is just a list of the normal Fitbit stuff connected to exercise and health.

Really, this is a huge PITA.  How did it happen that my calendar became connected and cannot be turned off.

It also notifies me of appointments that have already happened.  Truly annoying!

@Kkkatie It's good to see you again.

Thanks for getting back and for trying the suggestions shared in my post. I'm sorry you're going through this experience. This is odd as those options should appear there as long as your Fitbit device is connected. I understand this isn't your case and to further investigate on my end, please provide me with the following information:

  • What is the model of your Fitbit device?
  • May I know the model and OS version of your phone?
  • Is the Fitbit app updated to the latest version?
  • Take a screenshot of what is displayed after opening the Fitbit app, tapping your profile picture > Fitbit device icon and attach it to your reply.
