Required settings changed for notifications on iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This thread is for iOS customers on OS 13.3 who are unable to receive notifications.

Before you can receive notifications from your phone on your Fitbit device, it’s important that you carefully review and update your notifications settings on your iPhone.

The required settings changed with the introduction of iOS 13. Please make sure you follow all the instructions in the quick tip section here.

If you still are having issues, please review:

  • Make sure you've updated to iOS 13.3
  • Turn OFF and then back ON Share System Notifications (toggle OFF and ON)
  • Set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked

If you still have issues we recommend reviewing the help article

I have been having this issue on and off 'forever' since I got my charge 3 in April 2019.  Since changing phones to the iphone8 I have not been able to get notifications at all..

My Charge 2 was better.   Will probably switch to apple or galaxy if I can't get this sorted.

Sooooo disappointed.  Obviously a fault for 2 years and it hasn't been rectified.

I have just spent 2 hours trying to fix this.  Looking through forum posts.....

Mine worked after changing to “show preview always”..then last week it quit showing notifications again. I’ve checked and rechecked and nothing changed other than Fitbit app update, so idk What to do. Super frustrating

Almost 6 months later, Fitbit is still having the same issue with notifications. As much as I love my versa, I’m very, very close to giving up and getting an Apple Watch. None of the suggested troubleshooting works.

Call for support or see my entry where I explain the extra steps that They had me do before their documented steps. Each situation is unique but their support really helped.

I have now tried everything so many times. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, closed Bluetooth, etc etc etc and I really can not do it any more. I notice that the original post on this was closed by fitbit so I assume they are hoping it will go away. When I called support they had no idea if it was ever going to be fixed. Presumably it’s different for each generation which is possibly why some can be cured but others not. I hate to say it because I am wasting so much money but I, too, am going to Apple. Some sort of refund would be nice but I have already been told that won’t happen even towards a fitbit that will work.

Sorry if there is a thread already for this issue, but I haven't found it if it exists.

I have a Charge 3 and iPhone running iOS 13.3.1. I've seen where others aren't able to receive at all. That's not my problem. I receive everything on my Charge 3, but get no vibration to alert me when something comes in.

The vibration function is working for Fitbit-related items, such as hourly reminders, exercise functions, timers, etc.

Having my Fitbit alert me when something happens on my iPhone is rather important to me. I know Fitbit acknowledged an issue when the latest iOS update happened in the fall of 2019. Just wondering how long it's going to take for the resolution of these issues?

I've tried the reset, restart, etc. Unpair, repair, etc.

Is anyone else having the same issue I am? If so, did you figure out a workaround?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thank you,

Janet

Charge 3 is connected with iPhone 11 but notifications aren’t working. Is this a charge 3 issue or iPhone 11 issue ?

I have not been able to receive notifications for a couple months now. I have spent a lot of time trying all of these troubleshooting steps, back then and I just went through them again now. No change. Everything is up-to-date. Really frustrating

I too had problems and the online instructions didn’t work. But I fortunately reached a support person who guided me through the steps to get it working. I have posted my memory of those steps in another response and will repeat them here. I hope this helps.  I really do think you csn get it working.

So it was necessary for me to uninstall the Fitbit app. And then I needed to reinstall. I needed to shut off Bluetooth for 10 seconds. Then put it back on. Then I needed to go to Settings/Notifications/Messages (and later Phone and optionally Email and some other apps but I don’t want notifications on my phone for everything). And confirm that lock screen, Notification Center and Banners all had checkmarks and allow notification was on).

I opened the FitBit app and clicked near the top left on my face and then on Ionic and then on Notification and ensured all the notification settings for calls, text and calendar were set plus when down on level to App Notifications and chose what I wanted notified there.

what had not worked before all worked thereafter.

As of several months ago, I got everything EXCEPT text alerts on my Charge 3. I also did every step for troubleshooting on mi

own, at least 3 times, and then called and went through the same troubleshooting with a tech. He finally said that it is a issue with the app and that it was working for some customers but not all. Still waiting for this issue to get fixed.

See my response to others or call support. Support helped me. There are steps to take that aren’t documented online.

I have a Versa and an iphone 11 pro. I have done everything this site has recommeneded as far as troubleshooting to be able to receive texts. I can get phone calls, but have yet to get a text come through. Suggestions? I'm starting to feel like this might have been a huge waste of money at this point... 😞

I’ve done everything I’ve been told and still don’t get text messages.  I’ve paired with blue tooth.  I have an iPhone 10x.  I restarted.

My Fitbit is not registering phone calls or text messages from my IPhone. As far as I can tell everything is set up correctly

I tried all the usual steps (Bluetooth reset, fitbit reset, etc).  I called CS & after going through this again they said there is an incompatibility between the Fitbit and the OS.  Really?

I still cannot receive txt message notifications on my Versa 2. I can receive other app notifications. I have tried all suggestions at least twice.

Been having the same issues! I have the iPhone 8 with iOS 13.3.1

Just tried this and it worked for me!

Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show Previews>When Unlocked

I get the notification on my Lock Screen that I've received a message, and I still get the message on FB. Hope it helps!
