I have the same frustrating issue. I can not rely on notifications coming through because my sense is constantly disconnecting! I have missed several important texts because I was under the impression my sense was connected only to find out hours later that I had missed several important texts. That is the primary reason I have a smart watch. I am unable to keep my phone on my person at work (yes I am still in Bluetooth range) so I need this feature to work! I have to turn my Bluetooth off and on several times per day and sometimes that doesn't work and I have to go to Fitbit app and sync it manually. I got my son a sense for Christmas this year but I am now seriously considering sending it back.

@Kblevins Welcome to the Community Forums.
Thanks for the details shared in your post and for already trying to solve the issue. Note that the Fitbit App works well with any mobile device that meets the requirements listed in this link. Your phone must be within 30 feet of your Fitbit device to receive notifications. If your phone meets the requirements and the inconvenience persists, I suggest following the troubleshooting steps suggested in this help article: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
On a side note, I've moved your post to this thread so we can keep our forums organized.
Hope this helps.
