I walked 5 miles on the treadmill at my gym this morning but my Fitbit Alta says I did half the amount?

I've had that happen before Beverly, try not to hold the bar with your alta wrist or move it to a pocket or pendant (shoe works too).  The same sensor that negates forward steps when you are driving is activated when your wrist is stationary and walking. Keep that arm free swinging for acurate treadmill steps, fortunately (for me) I can hold a cup of coffee without the same effect since my wrist still moves slightly up and down, that bar just doesn't give at all.

Great question - welcome to forums - be sure to go into your dashboard and manually add in those steps!
