Out walking with sister who has Apple Watch with fitness tracking. She and I are usually in sync with steps. Today luckily I had my own iPhone in my back pocket. Steps per Fitbit were 5000 LESS than Fitness Tracker app. I took pics to prove but Who do I send to? Yes I did the iOS upgrade but didn’t see steps being off as an identified problem. Fitbit fully charged and worn in same spot. This only happened today. Ideas????

Hand welcome to the Fitbit community @Gibbomar
First and foremost I apologize for the late response. I understand your feeling that it’s possible your Fitbit didn’t compare to your friends when walking together side by side. It’s quite possible your friend had not synced all her previous steps before meeting you or vice versa so that might account for the altered “match” in steps. Without truly knowing what syncing occurred and when by either one of you it makes it hard to tell. It may be the issue your friends tracker is having issues and not yours. But if you feel that it’s indeed on your end then you can always restart your tracker. You will not lose any data doing this. Here’s how: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186
😃 Please let me know if I provided the best answer to your question. Keep me posted.

Thank you! And apologies for my delay in responding....alerts went to my junk folder. I was able to restart the device per the instructions you directed me to, My real test to make sure this worked will be this weekend when I hike with several people all whom track their steps and we compare at the end. I will report back. Oh, and in answer to some of your questions....I had been tracking comparatively with my sisters and others I walk with for forever, It was this one day last week that my steps were off by 5000+....nothing had changed....I wear the device in same spot....I always have my phone that tracks steps also and they are usually comparable. I know from history now when I repeat certain walks how many steps I should have....this was definitely an anomaly. I will update early next week. Thank you!
