Syncing Steps from iPhone to Fitbit

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a setting to prevent/allow the FitBit app from recording steps that the iPhone logs.  I understand that in most cases the iPhone will be tracking the same steps the FitBit tracks, and we don't want to log steps twice. In the case that I forget my FitBit or the battery dies, I've noticed that the steps logged with the iPhone are not recorded in the Fitbit app.  I just wasn't sure if there was an easy way to sync this data?

@slpcc63 I'd double check your settings in your iOS device to make sure that you have allowed access to "Motion & Fitness" to the Fitbit App. This is a required permission for MobileTrack to work on your iOS device. Keep me posted if this helps.

Do you mean Motion Activity under Privacy? I had looked here previously and FitBit doesn't appear as an option to enable.  I also looked in the settings for the FitBit app.  I actually thought I had seen it somewhere, just can't find it.

@slpcc63 That's one way. Or you can click your iOS settings > scroll down until you see your apps and click on Fitbit > and from here you will be able to toggle the Fitbit App's permission to access Motion & Fitness.

Also, what's important to note is that if you don't have MobileTrack setup on your phone, the Fitbit App isn't tracking your steps. Hope this helps.

Thanks. In the area I mentioned Fitbit is not listed as an app to enable. In the settings specific to the Fitbit, the options to enable are location, camera, background app refresh and use cellular data, and then I am able to change notification settings. Those are my only options.

According to the Fitbit website:

”If you already have a Fitbit account, log into the app and tap or click the Account icon (User-added image). Choose the option for setting up a new device and follow the MobileTrack instructions.”

Will mobile track allow steps from an Apple Watch that is synced to iPhone to show in Fitbit app?

Thank you! This is the exact information needed. I have the same issue when I either am charging or simply forgot my Fitbit in the morning. You made this very simple!

p.s. I did have to “turn off” Bluetooth so the app would stop trying to sync to my Fitbit and sync to iPhone health app instead. I was back at home and apparently within Fitbit distance.

"Power Sync" App helps you sync your iphone steps to your fitbit if you accidentally forget your fitbit but have your phone and use Health (Heart logo) app via iphone.  Just recovered 7,700 steps today because I left my fitbit on the charger and headed to walk while my car windshield was being replaced. I was so sad because I am doing a weekly challenge and it's 6:30p and there was no way I was going to reach my daily 10,000 step goal but thanks to this app, I will!
