Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Brebugs! I hope you're doing great!
Let me help yoo out, The challenge begins and ends in the challenge owner's timezone, so if you're in a different timezone than the challenge owner, you may notice that your challenge leaderboard stats do not always match your dashboard stats.
Hope it helps!

Can you explain this with an examples..
1) I am in US EST time zone and I start the challenge at my 12 AM(mid night)..
2) I have the challenge with my friend who is in India and its 9:30 AM already there..
So does that mean that my friends step cound form his 9:30 AM to next day 9:30 AM would be counted for .. ?

Thanks for stopping by @BalaChami!
Challenges take steps only during the timeframe of the creator's time zone. So for instance if you are doing a 1 day challenge it will run from 12am-12pm in the time zone of the creator, if you are 5 hours ahead of them your steps taken between 5am (day 1) and 5am (day 2) would be the ones that count. See also the discussion that my friend @PureEvil had here with another user who was wondering the same.
Happy stepping!
