Are you getting an error message when trying to add a friend through Facebook or through your contacts? Are you getting an error message when trying to see friends to add? If so, please reply to me with a screenshot of the error message so I can check this further.
Please remember that if you want to add a specific friend and you're not able to find it through Facebook or your contacts it's possible he or she used a different email address. Try to add them with the email address linked to their Fitbit account.
