Unable to log in to the app after the update.

After last week’s app update, my app signed me out and asked me to log in again. At first every log in attempt was getting a “background transfer service failed” error. After having other iOS app issues and working with Apple for a bit on those separate issues I’m now getting “the request timed out.” I haven’t been able to use this app for a week now. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, @MarcoGFitbit.

I have tried signing in not using WiFi, but the problem persists. I keep
getting either the background transfer service failed or the request timed
out error messages.

I am using iOS 12 public beta at this time, but it has been working since
the upgrade to 12.

UPDATE:

@MarcoGFitbit

I finally logged in. I just repeatedly spammed the login button after each failed attempt and eventually the app made a successful attempt.

Errors returned were were still the previously mentioned errors.

Final Update:

After a lot of troubleshooting, it turns out the problem was inherent to issues from previous over the air updates with a pervious beta build of iOS. The solution was to restore back to iOS 11, upgrade back to iOS 12 beta and restore from there. After completing these steps, I was able to use the app normally without the login issues.

Hi @Jason2049.

Confirm you've you are entering the correct email and password, log onto your account from a computer.  Once that is confirmed, try restarting the iPhone.  If that does not help, try deleting the app and reinstalling it.

Hope that helps.  Let us know how it goes.

Hello @Jason2049, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you too @Baltoscott, thanks for all your help. Smiley Happy

@Jason2049, I appreciate you have brought this to my attention and for letting me know you have already tried the troubleshooting steps @Baltoscott kindly provided. At this moment I would like to ask you to turn off WiFi on your phone and then try to log in again using your cellular data. Once you're able to log in, turn WiFi again. If this doesn't seem to work, please let me know so I can check this further.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.
