Weight goal start date won't update correctly

I’ve Google this issue and read forum topics on here, and considering I’m having the same issue today, this bug has STILL not been fixed.

Essentially, Fitbit was not recognizing my weight loss start date as the date I was at my highest weight. And so my progress has been inaccurate. I have tried going to setting>activities & wellness>nutrition & weight, and changing the start date. There’s no way to save it once you pick a new date. It will just revert back when you exit the nutrition & weight page.

In one forum, someone suggested going to the weight loss icon and reentering your goal weight. I did that and all it did was reset to tracking my weight loss to today. So now I can’t even track the weight loss that it was picking up.

This is a huge flaw that, based on the forum posts, has been in existence since 2017. It’s really kind of ridiculous that this hasn’t been fixed yet as of September 2023. Please correct this.

I figured out how to fix it. On the Nutrition & Weight page, you need to change BOTH the Start Date and Starting Weight. Change the starting weight to exactly what was logged on the start date in your tracked weight history. When I changed both and exited the page, when I went back, it was saved. It's now showing on the weight loss icon exactly how much I have lost. Hope this helps!

I believe start date is when you set your goal weight.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Yes, as I mentioned it does do that. However, in the settings it makes it seem like you are able to change this because it gives you the option to change the date. It just doesn’t save it when you leave that page and reverts back to what it was. It’s frustrating cause technically I’ve lost 37 lbs so far, but it was showing only 27 lbs. And now that I have reentered my goal weight today, it shows I’ve lost 0 lbs.

Sorry, didn't realize settings seem to let you change start date, though maybe should have been obvious from your initial post.

I think something has changed with the new interface.  I cannot find any option to alter the start date or the staring weight.  Help

1. On the main screen, go to your weight log. On the start date you want to use, note the EXACT weight that was logged that day and the date.
2. From main screen, click the gear :gear: button in the top left corner.
3. From that screen, click “Activity & Wellness.”
4. From that screen, click “Nutrition & Weight.”
5. Under the weight section, change the start date to the date you want to use AND change the starting weight to the EXACT weight that was logged that day.

If you only change the date and not the weight too, it will not save. Hope that helps!
