If you’ve noticed that your sleep stages, sleep time and awake time have changed recently, you’re seeing our latest improvement in action. This is the first step in a series of upcoming improvements to improving our sleep tracking — so stay tuned to hear about these changes as soon as they happen.
We understand that changes in your data can be surprising and appreciate your feedback.
What changed?
We've updated our tracking technology. This is to provide a more precise measurement of your sleep stages. Our goal is to always give you the clearest and most accurate view of your health.
For example, you may see your awake time increase slightly as we now capture brief awakenings the old system missed. This is a normal part of sleep.
What this means for you
The sleep data you see now is a more accurate reflection of your night's rest. This more detailed data will help you better understand how your body is recovering each night.
We appreciate you being such an engaged member of our community.

All historic and current sleep data is gone for me today and same is reported by many, many other users. Please check all the multiple posts being made today for both Android and iPhone users

Well, this is ironic. I just retired my Fitbit because I got up at 1:30 a.m. to pee, so it recorded that as when I fell asleep. In reality, I fell asleep around 10 p.m. There is no way to correct it anymore. This type of inaccuracy has happened multiple times. I was holding onto my Fitbit only because the sleep tracking was good, but for me, I am sure it is off by several hours. After wearing a Fitbit for 12 years, I have decided to switch to an Apple Watch. It is sad because I have had so many Fitbits over the years and given them as gifts.

It’s not accurate it’s not recording at all !
it asks to enter my sleep manually which is pointless. Why is it not recording anything. It’s not an improvement if it does not work, and what about the heartbeat?
if I can’t get this to work I will have to move away from Fitbit, I am not the only one having issues and it appears this has been ongoing for a while,
---
I have tried everything and still can’t get it to work.
I moved my account over to google this weekas a last resort thinking this might be the reason but still did not help.

That has always happened to me once in a while.. it actually used to happen more and I was always able to edit it. I just looked and it still has the edit button. It would be a disaster if we couldn’t because yes, it often used to miss the first chunk of sleep. Lately my tracking has been very good except for showing me awake for an hour in the middle of the night last night which I certainly don’t remember! I’ve always had bits of awake time that I don’t remember that I know is normal, but not almost a whole hour!

I also have an edit button but I cannot save the changes.

My sleep benchmarks are gone - is that part of the update? I have premium.

Longtime Fitbit user here because I like the little tracker and I use it mostly for sleep is why I’m premium and all this would be great if it would work, but it’s taking out huge chunks of our sleep even if we just get up to pee mine for the last two nights after the update, as a huge chunk of my sleep gone from the beginning, which is when I get my deep sleep what it did was start it from when I got up to pee it’s done that two nights in a row and before that if you get up to pee, it doesn’t restart until an hour after one other update you did did this. I hope you get it fixed because I really like this little tracker, I didn’t want a big watch, but I do have an Apple Watch 10. I just liked Fitbit. Thank you for listening to us all especially the premium people. We realize you have to make updates and improvements and we try to be patient he can look on this for him and you can also look on Twitter. Hopefully, you’ll either get it fixed soon thank you for listening

OK, I can’t edit that but you get the gist of it. Thanks again so much.

Good Morning Stephanie,
As of last night it is no longer tracking/reflecting Sleeping Heart Rate. The option is no longer on the App. Is that part of the revisions?
Also, the Sleep Score is gone as well, though it recorded my sleep in it’s entirety.
The first photo was yesterday’s readings, and the second photo is today’s readings.
Thank you.

Well I don’t think it’s more accurate. Two days since I last posted and both nights it gave me two sleep records. I edited them into one because I really was not awake that long in between! it was working really well right before this last update
--------
And for the first time ever I did not get HRV, breathing rate or temperature! So much for an improvement 🤨

Good Morning,
HRV is now under Daily Readiness.

I did some computer research today and found out my answer to why my sleep scores have changed this summer. I have a new Fitbit Inspire 3 and thought I made a mistake in changing to a new Fitbit. I would know if I was awake 1 h 46 minutes last night. Now I know the new tracking technology/algorithm has been drastically changing my awake hours and lowering my sleep score. I am NOT a restless sleeper (making my bed takes about 10 seconds) but I do switch positions a few times during the night. So, my "fair" sleep scores don't bother me as much as this question: Can I trust the Rem, Deep Sleep, Light Sleep hours and minutes?

HRV didn’t move, all that is shown under readiness is basic info; if it’s higher or lower than usual. It is still there with the other health metrics with a specific number.

This is completely ridiculous! And myself and others have been dealing with this since June and looking for answers. And finally just today I see an announcement that was made on August 1st. Why not respond to all the other threads where people are ASKING about this very issue for two months now?
You are wrong when you said "Fitbit has updated tracking technology". All Fitbit has done is switch over from the 'Normal' sleep setting mode, to now 'Sensitive' sleep setting mode. That's it. There is no other change at all. You just no longer have an option.
So why even give us both normal and sensitive mode setting options still? Right now, today I can switch between both modes on my Fitbit app.
The problem is, when you switch between the two you get no change whatsoever. Not even a single minute difference. All Fitbit did was make everyone have to be stuck with sensitive mode.
Even on Fitbit's own site it tells you that sensitive mode will record all movements as awake time. It's right there in print!
THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I NATURALLY ROLL OVER OR MOVE AROUND I AM STILL FULLY SLEEPING!
Only now you are docked for being awake and now get stuck with FAR LESS sleep per night than before this change. Probably 40 minutes per night less right now.
This is not an improvement at all. And why still give us the option of normal vs sensitive sleep settings? When normal mode is simply not available any longer.
The right thing to do would be to allow us, the users of Fitbit devices, (in my case since 2016) to be able to choose which sleep setting we want. Normal sleep mode IS MORE ACCURATE for me. Hands down. This new algorithm is way, way, WAY off. And now all of my data over the years has also been skewed and changed.
The correct thing to do would be to give us the option to choose (that option still exists on our Fitbit Apps).
That would be a no brainier and the right thing to do here.
There is not a single good reason for Fitbit to stick us with only one option when two options have always been there for nine years now and still even exist now, today; only the normal sleep setting option has now been fully disabled.
