brand new and wont pair to phone

I got a brand new charge 3 fitbit, I downloaded the app on my iPhone 7 with the new update and set up an account. I turned on the fitbit and it gave me the code to type into app to pair to phone and it comes up with error message saying it wont pair with my phone. Also says I need to download the new firmware update for my tracker but it wont sync to my phone so it wont work either. I've done all the troubleshooting tips I can find and it still wont work. I just took it out of the box this week and still haven't gotten to use it. Frustrated is any understatement at this point.
