iOS App Crashes on iPad 3 iOS V9.3.5

I've set my mother up with a Fitbit Alta and she loves it! She has been using the Fitbit app on her iPad 3 with the latest/last version of iOS on that, namely 9.3.5. She used to be able to happily sync, see her dashboard and also get the text Notifications on her Alta with bluetooth with her iPad. Since she's on auto-update for apps, I'm not sure which recent update from Fitbit is the culprit, but within the last month things have gone awry. Now, whenever she opens her Fitbit app (3/22/17 version) on her iPad 3 it crashes. I have tried deleting and reinstalling several times as well as trying with my own account and the same behavior. The very first time I open a freshly installed 3/22/17 version of the iOS Fitbit app it will "open" and display the nice colored marketing graphics but as soon as we sign in with any account it wil crash and then from then on out whenever you try to open the Fitbit app it immediately crashes.

Please help!

Hello @DebbyMe, thanks for joining us, it's great to see new faces around. Smiley Happy

It seems odd that the Fitbit app is crashing on your mother's iPad. Currently the latest iOS version for any Apple device is 10.3.1 which might be why the app is crashing. Please go to the iPad Settings > General > Software Update and make sure to update the iPad's iOS version.

After updating the iOS, please try to use the Fitbit app again and log in with your mother's account and your account and if it's still crashing, please let me know.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink

Thanks for the welcome and thoughts, MarcoGFitbit!

However, for the iPad 3, the latest and last version from Apple which can
be installed on that is iOS 9.3.5 and that's what my mother has had on her
iPad 3 the entire time she's had her Fitbit Alta. Also, in checking the
Fitbit site, the iOS app is supposed to support iOS 9 and above.

The odd thing is that the Fitbit iOS app used to work on her iPad 3 and now
it doesn't. Perhaps a new feature/fix put into a March Fitbit app release
and something not caught in testing at Fitbit as testing all permutations
and combinations is challenging.

Any other thoughts? Might there be a bug fix coming from Fitbit for this
iPad 3 issue or can you point me to a down-rev version of the iOS Fitbit
app (i.e., from January 2017) and we could try that? Would calling into
Fitbit Customer Support be useful here to report the bug or ???

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

@DebbyMe: my Fitbit app, version 2.44.2, crashes whenever I enable the Bluetooth radio on my fifth-generation Apple iPod Touch on iOS 9.3.5 to synchronize with my Fitbit Blaze. Afterward, it will  work and synchronize, though; it's just annoying.

Any update on this matter, @MarcoGFitbit?
