After updating Fitbit app to version 3.55 on my iPhone SE new generation, the phone battery is draining very fast. The phone could loose more than 50% in just background usage.
I wear a versa 3 and normally have the app open in the background on my phone for better synchronising. Is there something I can do except for always having the app closed?

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. While this is odd, may I know if the Fitbit app is the only one open in the background when this happens? I'm asking this as there might be another app or function impacting the battery life.
In the meantime, I'd recommend logging out from the Fitbit app, force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone. Then, open the Fitbit app, log back into your account and continue using it as you normally do to see if the same happens again.
