Ionic GPS tracking failure on long bike rides

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi

I've had my Ionic GPS tracking cut out on two bike ride 'races' 100 and 120km in bike mode and after about 4 hrs on a long hike in hike mode. Screen just says connecting and hangs, battery still over 30%, really annoying for all day activities. Works ok for shorter runs, bike rides etc. Have latest firmware.

@Ecopenny Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

I see where your disappointment is coming from. I'd like you to restart your Ionic and make sure when going on long runs your Ionic is fully charged, your watch has a battery life of up to 10 hours when using built-in GPS regularly.

Follow these tips when using GPS:

  • Charge your device to at least 80%, as built-in GPS can cause the battery to drain more quickly.
  • Start your exercise and connect to GPS in an area where you have a clear view of the sky.
  • Sync your device with the Fitbit app. The more you sync your device, the faster your device can connect to GPS.
  • If you are using GPS for the first time in an area, connecting may take longer than usual.

Hope this helps.
