I have a Fitbit Blaze that I would like to give to my daughter but when I create a family account and add a device to her account the only options are Ace and Ace2.  Is there any way to add the Blaze to her account?

Hi @zpost65  the family account is made for the Ace or Ace2. It's due to the laws our countries have made saying children under 13 (USA) and 16 (some European countries) can't have their own online accounts. There is no way your daughter can use the Blaze on a family account. You'd need to somehow set her up with her own email address and Fitbit account, which would require you to lie about her actual age. There is no other work around. How old is the girl?

Hos stupid is that? Why can’t a child have all the hardware that is available? It’s the account level that should be guiding, not what kind of device you have. Whit your stupid parental controls I’ll have to fake my child’s age in order to set her Inspire up. So stupid

@Henrikhagglund  due to laws across the world, children are prohibited from having an online account and using these devices. The Ace series was made especially to allow children six and up to use these services. Fitbit is abiding by those laws, so your daughter can't use the Inspire unless you lie about her age. Lying about her age would create a problem since the algorithms are made based on gender, age, height and weight. So that would give completely wrong data for your child.

These types of laws are related to collecting information from a minor, not about them having an account.  And for the most part, collecting the information is not prohibited, it just requires verifiable parental consent to collect the information.  These restrictions have nothing at all to do with using a fitness device, they are about the information someone is collecting from the device.  It's Fitbit's choice to require that information collected by a device be sent to Fitbit.  They could easily have the device just store the information locally on your mobile device or computer, with an option to send the information to Fitbit for additional features to be available.  And there is no reason Fitbit couldn't allow you to add family members that are part of a single Fitbit account that is managed by an adult family member.  Plenty of other online service do this.
