Fitbit ace 3 sleep data

The sleep data (numbers of hours of sleep) does not appear on the Fitbit3, unless the watch is synch with the app. How to resolve that?

Ours doesn't show up on the face of the Ace 3 unless I sync. It also isn't recording the entire sleep duration but will record sleep after he takes it off in the morning.
