Active Minutes are determined differently?

My Alta HR seems to be counting as "active minutes" almost any activity that is not sitting or sleeping!  Before, I would need at least 10 continuous minutes of walking or running for it to begin accruing Active Minutes.  Also, when I look on the app for the breakdown of Active Minutes by day, it says "No measurements" where I used to see a bar graph.  Maybe my Fitbit is dying?  Everything else is functioning.

Hi, @CatHawk! I think this is a difference between active zone minutes and activity minutes. Supposedly you should be getting active minutes with your tracker (see this help article), but what you're getting sounds more like active zone minutes, where it's based on heart rate. I wonder if someone from Fitbit can chime in and comment on whether they've made a change.

Thank you, @MakMak .  The help article was informative.  Will be interested in whatever Fitbit can tell me.

@CatHawk   You wrote that you use an Alta HR, so your active minutes are heart rate based.  Active minutes use a low threshold to start to accrue -- 50% of your maximum heart rate for your age.  Depending on your age, you can get active minutes with minimal activity.  A "normal" resting heart rate is 60-100 bpm.  Depending on individual circumstances, you can get active minutes at rest.  Your heart rate graph is color coded with your time in different zones.  You might get some insight there.

With respect to your "No measurements" comment, some users are seeing this as an app bug and it isn't related to your Fitbit.  Do you use Android or iPhone?

@CatHawk   I don't see a current thread in the iOS forum on the "No measurements" topic.  I think you should start a new thread in the iOS forum and include a screenshot.  It will help bring attention to the issue.  I use an iPhone, but I'm not having this issue with any of my graphs.

Hello CatHawk: when I first got my Alta HR I was also totally confused as this was my first activity tracker with HR, without HR before I would walk 60 minutes and get 60 active minutes but with HR yesterday I walked 12,880 steps and got 488 active minutes and 87% of those active minutes were in the Cardiozone which happens when your heart rate gets above 100 and peakzone is when your heart rate gets to 135. One thing I have noticed also is if I am exercising hard for a while and then sit down to rest, all the time my heart rate stays above 100 I will collect active minutes also, hope this helps a bit more!
