All those having problems with their Altas

I have been having a back and forward discussion with the “support” team about the issues with the charge not lasting etc that have suddenly sprung up for hundreds of us.

After the standard reply of them offering me 35% discount on a very limited range of products as my Alta is 6 months out of warranty, I asked if the life expectancy of their products was only 2.5 years.

I got the unbelievable reply that they don’t guarantee their products will actually work!! I’m paraphrasing but that was the gist. Needless to say I won’t be buying another Fitbit as this is not only unbelievably bad for the planet but shocking customer service.

In the interests of fairness this was what they actually wrote:

Fitbit does not warrant that the operation of the Product will be uninterrupted or error-free. This Limited Product Warranty does not cover software embedded in any Product and related services provided by Fitbit. See the Fitbit Terms of Service for details of your rights with respect to use of the software and related services.

Just curious.  Which product do you know of that guarantees "the operation of the Product will be uninterrupted or error-free" ?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I expect a watch to last for longer than 2.5 years. Call me old-fashioned, but I expect things to last a bit longer than that. Also, if hundreds of people are having the same issue at roughly the same time, then there is a problem with the product.
I didn’t expect it to be replaced with a new one, indeed I don’t want a new one - I like my Alta. But it should be fixable. Saying that it’s tough **ahem** and that nothing can be guaranteed isn’t good enough for me.

it’s fine - I won’t be buying another.

I like my Alta also. I have had it for about 3 years. On Thursday night, it showed low battery. I have cleaned the contacts, changed USB ports, and ran the reset no to avail. I am livid that so many of ALTA users are experiencing the same thing at the same time. It gives the impression the product is planted with a kill program after a specific amount of time, thus "forcing" consumers to purchase a new device. The joke's on you, Fitbit!  I will not be purchasing a new Fitbit.
