My fitbit alta hr keeps turning off. I have contacted support and was told that it has reset itself 30 times in 1 day. I have plugged it in and done the restart by pushing the circle 3 times in a few seconds. I never get the fitbit logo to appear, but the device does turn on again, at least for a little bit. The customer support person then told me it will continue to shut off like this since it hasn't been fixed by restarting, and it is running on the newest update.
Naturally support informed me that I am outside the warranty, but they can offer 35% off a new device. This is my 5th fitbit in an 8 year time span. Clearly they do not make lasting products, and they continue to break just outside the warranty so you have to spend more money. This is a very shady business strategy. They are screwing over their customers that they worked hard to get. When you are spending so much money on a product it should last longer than 1-2 years. Clearly fitbit just likes to take advantage of its customers.

Hi same here I just found out about this site. I’ve had my Fitbit Alta for 2 years. It’s been fine I charged it two days ago and my app says it’s full. Yesterday it died and when I went home to charge it turned on. Now dead again. How do you restart it?

I find they don't last long either. Max 18 months.

There is a little circle button on the USB end of the charger. You need to push the 3 times in a few second timeframe. Make sure there is a small pause between pushes.

Which is just ridiculous. They should last longer. Mine has been working again now after I called and complained. Who knows how long it will work for though.
