Alta HR shuts down without warning

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Alta HR recently just started to shut down with absolutely no warning. I used to get e-mails if my Alta HR is low on battery, but I don't receive them anymore. Today, it shut down automatically at 34%, which I don't think is perceived as low battery. The only way that I can revive my Alta HR nowadays is to charge, but to press the button on the USB charger too.

Does anybody else have this issue?

Thanks!

Mine shuts down at 88%! I reached out to support and they keep doing a battery drain test, but its shutting down when its not even fully drained,

Mine is doing the exact same and I’m allegedly at full battery so clearly an issue somewhere and trying to get any help is impossible right now

Mine has started doing the same and it appears as though the battery is just not holding its charge. Over the last few weeks it has suddenly gone from me only needing to charge it once every 7 days to now needing to charge it once a day and if am very active even twice because it just turns itself off. Can the battery be replaced or is this just going to be a case of bin it now and fork out for a new one?

Same issue with me.  I used to get five days of charge at least out of mine. Sometimes I got six days.   I don't have a bunch of notifications turned on it either.  This past week I have had to charge it EVERY night for the past three days.  By mid afternoon it is completely dead!  I've barely had it two years.  Is it going to be dead and I have to buy a new one, or can the battery be changed?  I have tried all of the tips, and they are not helping my battery.

Fitbit definitely has a defect with this model.  Mine too starting dying with no notice.  After several restarts over a couple days it just dyed...won’t even charge.  Of course mine is 1 year and 4 months so all the offer is 25% off select models.  Now I’m debating if I want to purchase another tracker from a company that clearly doesn’t stand behind their products, or look elsewhere

I need to search in my file cabinet for my receipt.  I’ll be months shy or at the two-year mark from my purchase date.  I tried some new suggestions today, and my battery is still draining quickly even with a lot of notifications turned off.  I’m frustrated like you and don’t know what brand I want to buy next!

I’ve decided to go for another brand and purchased a Garmin. I have had issue upon issue with Fitbit due to faulty bands etc and they do nothing to acknowledge the issues so I’m done with them now. Offering a discount off another Fitbit is not resolving the tech issues they have, just sweep it under the carpet by getting more money out of you, Goodbye Fitbit!

I am not sure if I've stumbled on a fix or whether Fitbit actually reads these posts. However, after my post the other day I changed a few things around when resetting. I opened the app on my laptop to see if the battery charge agreed with the display on my HR and noticed that it was stuck trying to syn although all-day syn is turned on. I left the app open and swapped the usb lead to a different slot on my laptop and when pressing the reset button I waited a little longer between the 3 presses and left it charge and for the first time in over a week it charged to completely full battery according to both the app and HR display. Today it has barely used any battery and all my stats synced immediately

Hi:
I had an online chat with a Fitbit customer service rep today about my battery issue. They instructed me on some things I have to do with my notification settings, then I have to charge my battery, let the battery completely drain down while wearing it and syncing it 5-6 times a day, charge it fully and contact them w/my case number and the dates I did both of these so they can look at another more isolated incident. We’ll see what happens. I totally understand your frustration.

Thank you for letting me know what you did. I also noticed my percentages didn’t match for battery power. My app on my phone was saying my battery was full, but when I tapped on my Fitbit itself, it showed it wasn’t fully charged.

I commented on another person’s post about what the customer service rep on my online chat told me to do today. After I do these things I am to contact them again with my case number so they can check my battery status. Right now we just have one isolated incident. Thank you for these tips. I will try them also.

Let us know what happens my battery appears to be back to normal again hardly any battery used all day today and all notifications and sync back to normal plus all my missing stats for the last week or so have now corrected themselves on the app 🙂

I’m unable to try the fix option as it’s completely dead and Won’t switch back on. As suspected Fitbit support have offered discount off new version 🙄

Good luck with the fix everyone

Hi Chrissy774:

I did everything the customer service rep told me to do.  I charged it up, wore it to bed that night.  The next morning the battery was almost dead.  By the time I got to work that morning, it was dead.  I charged it again that night.  I put it on the next morning and barely got use out of it that day.  Once again I went online and did the online chat, and I gave the rep my case number as I was instructed to do if I called back.  He then told me nothing could be done.  As I guessed they might do, Fitbit gave me a 25 percent discount to use on purchasing a new device.  I still am unsure whether I will buy another Fitbit or go with a different company.  My Fitbit was purchased in December of 2018.  I didn't even get two full years out of it.

how odd since I posted last my HR has been back to normal only needing to be charged every 6-7 days and I wear it non stop and put all my notifications back on again. I checked my receipt and it is over 3 years old now. Have you tried my suggestion? I can't understand how something has worked for me by trial and error yet support can't help you

Mine kept dying too much in a day whilst showing fully charged so it got binned. Fitbit support said it was the battery that was the issue and nothing could be fixed as per usual they offered discount to buy a new one but i'm fed up of fitbit not resolving the technical issues they have and only way is giving them more money so i have changed to Garmin and have to say wont look at fitbit again as i love my new band.

I'm having the same issue. Mind if I ask what Garmin you switched to? I'm looking to do the same, because FitBit Customer Support has been zero help.
