My Alta HR stopped tracking sleep on March 2, 2021. It has continued to track heart rate. I tried to enter a Sleep manually using heart rate, but no sleep stages were tracked.

Hi, @KSCubsFan , you will not get sleep stages if you enter sleep manually. You must ALWAYS allow your Fitbit to detect sleep autmoatically if you would like this info.
Tips for making sure yur sleep is tracked:
1. Never choose "sleep now" or start sleep manually.
2. Sleep intervals of less than 3 hours will not give you "sleep stages" even if sleep is detected.
3. Make sure your Fitbit has plenty of battery (preferably at least 20%). Little and often for charging is best for your Fitbit and best for getting sleep stages.
4. Wear your Fitbit sufficiently snuggly that it doesn't rotate or flop about in the night, but not so tight that it interferes with comfort (or circulation!)
5. Be aware that occasionally you may sleep in a positon (for example with highly flexed wrist) that your heartrate cannot be consistently detected, so even an otherwise perfectly functioning Fitbit won't give you the information - remember what yu are looking for is trends over days or weeks or longer - the occasional blip is almost inevitable.
I hope this helps.

Me too, two nights ago. At the same time, all my heart rate logs are 20% higher than before. Makes it look like I’m suddenly more active than before.

At least once or twice a week my Fitbit stops recording during the night. It is usually between midnight and 3am and lasts for between 1 and 2 hours. I have reported this before and was advised to reset my watch when I charge it by pressing the button on the charger connection x3 . I have been doing this and the problem still occurs. It is too much of a coincidence that I am sleeping in an awkward position for a similar period of the night so frequently. It seems like there could be some maintenance of the system going on in the early hours?
any suggestions? JEB

I called tech support and they walked me through resetting my fitbit. In the fitbit app, they also had me go into settings and turn off the auto heart rate setting before the reset. I set it to off and then reset the fitbit. Once reset, I put it back to auto. Since then, it has been fine.
I have occasionally seen brief periods during the night where the fitbit doesn't record heart rate. But since it doesn't happen often, I never worried about it. Might be a position thing. I doubt it is related to nightly maintenance as the fitbit itself would be unaffected by that. Maybe try wearing it on the other wrist at night and see if it keeps happening.
