Alta HR won't pair

For the last few days, every time I try to sync I get an error message, so I do all the tricks: force stop, uninstall and reinstall, unpair and repair device, and restart phone. No rhyme or reason to what will work to get it going again. Am I the only one with this issue? Is if just because the Alta HR is old so they're causing bugs to get us to upgrade??

Hi @Pamthetvaddict No, I doubt it is deliberate on Fitbit's part. But the truth is the Altas ARE old devices now and are subject to failure. Also they are further away from the era of the phone's we are using now so they are less compatible. However, you should still be able to get them to sync, assuming there isn't an age related problem with your Alta. What I have always found works for me is to RESTART  my tracker a few times, then go to my phone and unpair my tracker from the phone's Bluetooth settings and turn off bkuetooth, restart the phone and turn bluetooth back on and then go to the fit it app and try to sync again (don't try to pair the tracker through the phone's Bluetooth settings - that won't work). If that fails then have a look at THIS Help Article on Syncing Issues and give all the suggestions a try. Good luck.

Hello there, @Pamthetvaddict. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Alta HR before reaching out.

In addition to the steps recommended by @NellyG, please try following these steps in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Alta HR from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Alta HR.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Alta HR.
  • Set up notifications again.
  • Once your Alta HR is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Alta HR first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

I am going thru this also. I reinstalled it but the devise doesn't show on the Bluetooth. I haven't been able to see the screen for ages but that isn't the issue it's being able to pair. A different style of screen has come up as well.

I don't see my sleep or heart rate. Or rather it's not recording it.
