Alta hr doesn't count enough steps

When I first got my Alta hr it was accurate.  Now where it used to count 500 steps, today it counted 370 steps.  Why is it out by so many steps?? Can this be fixed?

Hello @Rebafan

Good to see you. 😃 If you really feel your Alta HR is not accurate anymore you can always restart it. You won’t lose data doing this. Here’s how:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

😉 Please let me know if restarting your Alta HR gives you the results you want and resolves your issue.

That seems to have fixed the problem!  Thank you so much.  I'm actually writing on behalf of my mother who turned 89 this week.  She loves that Fitbit and is determined  to do at least 4500 steps every day!!  Stresses her out a bit when her steps aren't reflected  in her Fitbit!!

We, her family, believe the Fitbit is a big part of why she remains so healthy at age 89!

Thanks again!

I have the same issue with undercounted steps. I have done the reset as described several times, but don't get the logo light up or vibration at the end. Is my Alta HR resetting or not?

Thanks!
