Alta notifications aren't working

I have my iPhone set to send notifications to my Alta. It does so every time it syncs I think, about every 20 minutes for an event in my calendar that is hours away. It is set in my phone to alert one hour before. It starts buzzing my wrist 8 hours before and buzzes about every 20 minutes! It is driving me crazy and I have to turn them off. I did last night, and missed my meeting! This is a real headache.
