Elliptical and heart rate issues

I have a bow flex max trainer. Obviously this is not a choice of workouts for fitbit but it does resemble an elliptical.  In the beginning it did track my heart rate great but my last 2 workouts my heart rate was registering at 100 when it should have been 125+.  I moved the fitbit higher onto my arm and still no change. I have restarted it countless times as well. Also, how can I get the fitbit to auto-recognize this?  The Alta does not allow you to manually enter steps like my charge did and I feel like when I enter the time manually, it really under estimates.

I am having the same issue! I tried resetting it several times. My Alta also only counts half of my steps now on the elliptical. It used to be spot on. Now it tells me I have gone 1 mile after I have gone 3. I’ve tried changing stride length and sensitivity but it has not fixed anything. My Alta also does not detect exercise. It said my heart rate was 95 while I was doing hit training on the elliptical, which it should have been 140+

exactly! i was drenched in sweat and working hard and the fitbit was saying 105!! The minute I stepped off the machine at the end, the fitbit registered my HR at 135.  There is definitely something wrong. This is the second consecutive workout where this has happened. I will reset again and see what happens. I plan on calling Fitbit this week.

My Charge HR shows a much lower heart rate than a separate monitor during elliptical exercise (it does recognize the type of exercise). It used to correlate well but no longer. Amy thoughts on a remedy would be welcome. Thanks!

I’ve had the same issue for the last 18 months with Fitbit charge 3.  I think it’s something to do with the way we move our arms on the machine. It would be great if Fitbit could just acknowledge the limitation rather than us having to route around for solutions that may well not exist.
