will this issue ever get fixed? It used to work but now there is no tracked HR after an exercise. It all started around July 2019

Fitbit has become a joke. I have been waiting near 6 months for this HR problem to be fixed, so I just went and bought a Garmin Fenix 5. Very very nice bit of gear.

Agreed, had this issue for 2 months now and nobody seems to know what they're doing or comprehend what the problem is despite emails and phone calls to support. "switch it off and on again" seems to be the go-to solution for everything.

Has this issue been fixed now? I think it might be working

It works when the exercise picks up automatically by the watch, not when i start and stop tracking my exercise through the app. Problem is I'll be running for 30 mins and the watch will only automatically pick up 20mins of it so I lose out on my rewards programme which requires 30mins of exercise at an average of 80% maximum heartrate.

Sorry false alarm. It’s still a piece of crap.

I would like a bit more information to see if we are struggling with the same thing. When I begin to exercise (mostly on an eliptical or Nordic Trac) the device does not show increased heart rate beyond a certain point. Yesterday I was pushing hard into cardio or peak, but all the device was registering was 98-106 beats per minute. This is consistent regardless of where I place the unit on my arm, what type of band I use, and all of the other tips I've seen in other discussions. Is this the same issue you are having?

I may have a bit of clarity after going back and forth with support for a while. Heart rate data will only be tracked when the activity is started via the Fitbit device. When an activity is started from the app, only the phone sensors are used for that activity. To get a full dataset for your activity, you will need a GPS included Fitbit(Ionic), and only start activities from the watch.

I am unaware of any way to start activity from my device, since it is an AltaHR. If there is a way to do this, please advise.
The tracking of heart rate is erratic always when exercising. During a single 30 minute continuous workout it tracks from 82 to 130 and back down to 85 over a short period of time. During the same span of time I am on an elliptical or treadmill at a steady pace. Other methods of tracking (on the equipment or via pulse check) show a consistent rate yet the Fitbit is all over the map.
I am very disappointed with this product.
